Indiana resident jailed for second time for hiding positive HIV status

An Indiana man who previously faced prison time for failing to tell his sexual partners that he was HIV-positive has done so again—and again pleaded guilty to malicious mischief, St. Joseph County authorities say.

Travis Spur, 39, entered into a plea bargaining agreement after being charged with concealing HIV status from a partner. The second accusation was denied due to a voluntary confession of guilt, writes Fox News.

Spuru faces up to two years in prison and a possible fine of 10 000 dollars. And it looks like he is a repeat offender.

In October 2016, Spur was convicted in Marshall County on two counts of deliberately causing harm. He was subsequently sentenced to 18 months in prison, and then to 18 months of house arrest, which he currently continues to serve.

In July, 2017, Spur was again accused of causing harm, but this time in Allen County. He was sentenced to “one year in prison with 54 trial days after the conclusion of a plea bargaining agreement”.

Court records show the 39-year-old met women he met online and had unprotected sex with them - without saying a word about his HIV-positive status.

Spur’s verdict was announced for his last crime on March 7.
