San Francisco resident intentionally homeless due to high housing prices
30-year-old resident of San Francisco Christine Haines deliberately became homeless, to save on rental housing.
The girl lived on the salary of a journalist in a city where the average price for renting a one-room apartment is about $ 3 500. As a result, she could not pay off her debts and begin to postpone anything.
Therefore, Christine bought a gym membership, left some of her belongings in the locker, and some sold out, and began to live in her car with a guy. At night, they usually went to some kind of camping, and on weekends they left the city.
“In the first 40 days of living this way, I paid off $3 in debt and saved $700 in rent,” says Christine. “At the same time, we had a great time, grilling salmon in foil over a fire, playing guitar and drinking beer under the starlight.”
A few months later, the girl lost her job and moved to the boat of her boyfriend, where they live now.
Christine says that when she finds a new job, she will remove full-fledged housing, but, most likely, no longer in San Francisco.
