A Connecticut resident advises giving children door blocks to protect them from shooters at school.
Katie Cornelis of Connecticut stated in her Facebookthat she gave the door bollards to her two nieces after 2012, 27 people were killed while shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The woman believes that this will help children escape in case of an emergency, writes Daily Mail.
She decided to share the advice with other parents and those who want to protect their children.
“Sure, a door lock is small, but it can be a real help in keeping you safe if you ever have to barricade yourself in a room. If a shooter shoots at the door lock, the lock will still keep the door from opening and will buy you some time,” Cornelis wrote.
According to her, a security expert shared this advice with her.
Now the nieces of the woman, Hayley and Gabby, 17 and 19, respectively, lived in Sandy Hook shortly before the shooting and could also become victims of this terrible crime.
Post Cornelis quickly became viral in the network, they were shared more than 1,3 million times.
Many commentators thanked the woman for her good advice. The subject of school shooting has once again become topical after the shooting at a school in Florida that took the lives of 17 people.
