Residents of US non-citizens rush to apply for citizenship

Residents of the United States who, for various reasons, have postponed their citizenship, are in a hurry to finish the naturalization process in the country as quickly as possible. This edition writes miamiherald.com.
Florida has increased the number of residents who want to apply for citizenship. Representatives of organizations that help people in immigration and citizenship issues told reporters about this. Such a rush is caused primarily by new decrees of the US President. More than 400 people came to a special seminar on citizenship in Florida.
“I have lived in the country for more than 30 years. But I never thought that I would urgently need to obtain citizenship and go through this process. I have children who were born here. I am a permanent resident of America. But I'm afraid they might send me back. That’s why I decided to do this now,” says one of the applicants.
American organizations do not cope with the number of people applying for citizenship. Therefore, some of them began to take people only by appointment.
In addition, the number of people wishing to pass the citizenship exam increased. According to the US Department of Homeland Security, about 13,1 million permanent residents reside in the country, of whom 8,2 million people have the right to apply for citizenship.
