Panicked New Yorkers are desperate to move their family members to the United States before the travel ban comes into effect on Thursday, June 29.
Those who have relatives in the six countries listed in the ban - Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen - began turning to travel agents en masse to speed up the arrival of their relatives.
“Today was crazy,” said David Williams, executive coordinator Fastport passport. “Everyone who is trying to coordinate travel for their family turns to us.”
Other travel agents warned that those who already live here should not have any particular problems when their families cross the border, as this prohibition applies only to those who do not have “honest” family or work relationships in the United States.
"I don't think anyone should worry," said Eric Grubant, owner of a travel agency CIRE. “They just have to make sure their paperwork is perfect.”
Employers are also concerned.
Hrubant received a call on Monday morning from a concerned company CEO, wondering if the employee, who is an Iranian citizen, could be sent from New York to Abu Dhabi and back.
Recall that US State Department 26 Jun saidthat 72 hours after the decision of the Supreme Court will begin the implementation of a temporary ban on the entry into the US of citizens of six predominantly Muslim countries, provided for by the decree of President Donald Trump. This means that such measures will take effect on the morning of June 29.
