A mysterious unidentified flying object was spotted over the island of Kiawa in South Carolina during the Christmas holidays, which caused a heated discussion on the Internet.

The video on which the object was captured was posted on YouTube by Debra Thomson, she wrote that the aircraft was clearly visible from where she was, but the woman could not understand what it was, reports Fox News.

“It was approximately 21:33 p.m. Eastern Time off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. I had an unobstructed view in all directions. Earlier in the evening I turned on the lights on the Christmas tree outside the house. I went outside to turn them off and noticed this beautiful red orb in the sky. I knew it wasn't Venus because it was in the northwest. The object was moving in my direction and seemed to be under the control of an intelligent being,” Thomson wrote.

She added that the object "moved slightly and became the size of a pin head, and after a few minutes it returned to its previous size."

Thomson also wrote that she called the local airport, where she was told that they did not have this object on the radar, and also said that it was not a weather probe.

Commentators on YouTube are divided: some believe that the object belongs to a civilization from another planet, others insist on its more earthly origin, suggesting that this could be a drone or a trace from the flight of a military aircraft.

It is not the first time when Kiawa Island encounters unidentified objects in the air, especially on holidays. On New Year's Eve 2015, a bright orange disc was spotted over Rivers Avenue on this island. Three weeks later, bright lights of unknown origin were noticed in the sky above the island.
