South Carolina mistakenly shot his daughter, mistaking her for a thief

In Greenville, South Carolina, a man shot his own daughter, deciding that a thief was trying to get into the house. The young woman died on the spot, and her father was arrested.

According to a report published by the local sheriff's office, authorities arrested Jermaine Tramonte, 43-year-old, during an investigation into the murder of his 23-year-old daughter, Nadezhi Jermaineka Pressly, writes Wspa. Drugs were also found in the house.

At the moment, Jermaine Pressley has only been charged with intent to distribute drugs - heroin and cocaine.

Police said Pressley had not yet been charged with the death of his daughter, since the investigation is still ongoing.

The man was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center; he was not granted bail.

23-year-old Nadeja Jermaineka Pressly died trying to enter her own house, located on Young Street in Greenville, near 1: 15 Sunday night, May 19.

Her father shot at the “intruder,” believing that a thief was trying to break into the apartment.

The woman died on the spot from gunshot wounds. Today, 20 May, an autopsy was to take place, which will officially name the cause of death. The statement has not yet been made.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff's Office and the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
