New Yorker stabbed his mother and seriously wounded his father, having quarreled because of shoes

A 55-year-old resident of Brooklyn killed his mother and inflicted serious stab wounds to his father during an argument over his shoes, a police source said.

55-year-old Oscar Rodriguez Jr. allegedly fell into a rage and stabbed his 77-year-old mother Maria Rodriguez as she tried to separate the fight between her son and father. It all happened in an apartment in Bushwick on the night from 24 to 25 May, writes New York Post.

Rodriguez Jr. returned home barefoot, which his father Oscar Rodriguez noticed. A man asked his son why he was without shoes. The son reacted extremely aggressively: in a rage, he stabbed his father in the chest and hands, and then fatally wounded his mother and fled from the crime scene.

An elderly couple in pools of blood was discovered by their son-in-law, 63-year-old Artelio Reyes, on the evening of May 25. According to the source, Reyes climbed into the window of the house after he could not get through to the spouses by phone.

The fact that all this was done by the son was reported to the police by the father, who was seriously injured.

Police arrested Rodriguez Jr. on May 25 after receiving a 911 call about an emotionally unstable man with violent tendencies wandering around the area. Unknown to police at the time, the man was linked to the murder and he was taken to the psychiatric ward of Woodhull Hospital.

Neighbor said that Rodriguez Jr. in the past has repeatedly conflicted with his mother.

Now the man is still in the psychiatric ward and has not yet been charged with a crime. Due to medical institution prohibitions, the police still did not communicate with him.

Detectives are trying to get a search warrant to take from the hospital bloodied pajamas, in which Rodriguez was at the time when he was taken to a psychiatric hospital.
