An 39-year-old man from Missouri was jailed on charges of cruelty to animals and committing a crime with a gun after wrapping a dachshund dog around with a building tape and threw it into a ditch in very cold weather.
Paul Garcia pulled the dog's legs and mouth with black duct tape, reports the Jefferson County Sheriff's office. After that, he reportedly threw the dog out of the car into a ditch on the side of the road, writes USA Today.
About 12 hours later, the police rescued the animal - fortunately, the dog survived. Rescuers named the dachshund Jimmy.
Sheriff Dave Marshak said that the temperature of the day when the man threw the dog into the ditch was barely above 10 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 12 Celsius).
And it was not his own dog, said Sheriff's office speaker Grant Bissell.
The office posted a photo of Jimmy on Facebook and Twitter immediately after the rescue.
“He was cold, hungry and may have had a concussion,” the caption said.
The next post, this time with a video, shows how the dachshund's condition has improved over time. In the clip, the dog plays with rescuers and wags its tail.
“Jimmy” is doing much better. This is a look at him.
We want to get him back to his owners. Right now he is NOT available for adoption.

Garcia is taken into custody with the possibility of bail for 50 thousand dollars.
