Arizona resident fell into the mine and lay there 48 hours, killing rattlesnakes with his hands
An 62-year-old Arizona resident spent a terrible two days in a mine where he accidentally fell, breaking both his legs. For forty-eight hours without food, water and the opportunity to call for help, he had to kill three rattlesnakes with his hands. Fortunately, the man managed to save.
John Waddell was safely rescued from the mine without endangering his life. A man was discovered by his friend, who identified himself as Terry Schröder, at the bottom of an 30-meter shaft mine, located south of the city of Aguila, which is about 150 kilometers north-west of Phoenix, writes Fox10.
Waddell spent two days at the bottom of the mine. After climbing to the surface, he was immediately taken to the nearest hospital. It is reported that John fell into the mine by accident. He was going to go down there on a rope, but halfway he had a carbine broken, as a result of which the man fell and fell down.
Waddell broke both legs in the fall and had no cell phone service. Once at the bottom, he discovered that he was not alone - rattlesnakes were scurrying around. According to the man, he had to kill three snakes with his bare hands, without the ability to move normally due to fractures. At the same time, he almost continuously called for help in the hope that someone would hear him.
On Monday, before descending, he called his friend Schrader and said that he was going to the mine. Friends had an agreement to notify each other about their potentially dangerous movements. Waddell was about to return on Tuesday, and asked Schrader to begin his search if he did not return to that day.
“He said he'd be back on Tuesday, and I didn't do anything on Tuesday, but I decided to take action on Wednesday,” Schrader said. “He didn’t come back, and I was very scared to think about what I might find there.”
Schrader arrived at the mine, parked the truck and heard calls for help, which were heard from the shaft.
It took six long hours to get Waddell to the surface, a rescue team and special equipment. In addition to fractures, the man showed severe dehydration. Now his life and health is not in danger.
