A woman returned a freezer to Costco, having forgotten $ 35 thousand in it
A woman with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis, René Reese, through an exchange program, returned a freezer to Costco, having forgotten $ 35 of thousands of her savings in it. Now she is trying to return the money, writes SF Gate.
“I kept money in the freezer because if there was a fire, the freezer wouldn’t burn,” Renee Reese said.
Reese has been negotiating with Costco since the beginning of June to help him track the cash and anyone who could find them online.
The money was stored in a Ziploc package and was wrapped in white paper towels that merged with the freezer door, so the workers for the delivery of goods, Costco's subcontractors, did not notice them. They arrived to pick up the old freezer and exchange it for a new set.
Multiple sclerosis increasingly reduces the mobility of women. Therefore, she decided to exchange the old refrigerator for a new one, so that it was more convenient to get to the contents. She said she used the freezer as a temporary bank for her deposits and savings to limit the number of trips she needed to get to the bank.
A woman called an urgent delivery and exchange of goods from Costco, and therefore dismantled the refrigerator in a short time and forgot about the package with money.
“I thought my daughter took it. But she thought I did it. When I went to look for the package, I didn’t find it,” Reese said.
She sued Costco, as the company found an old refrigerator and did not find a package there, but did not interview employees and subcontractors who might have known where the money was.
Costco reported that they are investigating this issue and the investigation has not yet been completed.
