Melania Trump, the spouse of Donald Trump, was accused of having written off part of her speech at a party convention from a speech eight years ago by the current First Lady Michelle Obama.

Melania Trump spoke at the Republican Party convention, whose delegates must officially approve her spouse as a candidate for the presidency of the United States.

Eight years ago, Michelle Obama spoke at a similar convention of the Democratic Party.

Two paragraphs in the speeches of Michelle Obama and Melania Trump were almost identical. In particular, Melania, like Michelle, spoke about how her parents raised her:

“My parents instilled in me a belief in these things: you have to work hard to achieve what you want in life. The word you give is a commitment, you need to do what you say and keep your promises.” Melania Trump also said that people need to be treated with respect.

Michelle Obama's speech from 2008 onwards is remarkably similar:

“Barack and I were raised with very similar values. That you have to work hard to achieve what you want in life, that your word is a commitment and that you have to do what you say. That you need to treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them or don’t agree with them.”

Michelle Obama in 2008 said:

“Marriage Obama and I have built our lives on these values ​​and will pass them on to future generations. We want our children and all the children of this country to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the breadth of your dreams and your willingness to work to achieve them.”

Trump's press office said that Melania used the services of speechwriters in preparing the speech: "In writing the speech, Melania's team of speechwriters took into account her aspirations in life, and also took material from other sources that reflected her way of thinking."

Melania Trump is a Slovenian fashion model who met Trump in 1999. They married in 2005 and had a son, Barron, in 2006.

During her speech, Melania tried to present her husband as a responsive person, ready to fight for the country.

Her largely personal speech contrasted sharply with the speeches of other speakers.

The leitmotif of most speeches were calls to make America safe again, in some ways repeating the main slogan of the Trump campaign: “Make America great again.”

The four-day GOP convention opened on Monday in Cleveland. Its delegates should decide on their candidate for the November presidential election.

In many ways, this is a formal process, because Trump enlisted the support of Republicans in most states, and hence the majority of the delegates to the congress, because, in accordance with the rules, they should support the candidate voted for by the residents of the state they represent.

It is this position tried to challenge Trump's opponents in the party, having submitted to the committee on the rules an amendment to allow the congress delegates to vote for the candidate they want, without being guided by the opinion of voters.
