Zelensky harshly answered Putin on the idea of ​​issuing Russian passports to Ukrainians

Vladimir Zelensky, who won the presidential elections in Ukraine, turned to Russian President Vladimir Putin and criticized his recent statement of intent to simplify the provision of Russian citizenship to all Ukrainians after residents of the occupied territories of the LC and the DPR. Zelensky published his statement on Facebook.

“Firstly, I would not advise the Russian authorities to waste time trying to seduce Ukrainian citizens with Russian passports. Perhaps there will be someone who is still under the influence of propaganda. Perhaps someone will do this for the sake of making money or in an attempt to hide from criminal investigations,” the statement says.

At the same time, Zelensky promised that someone should soon become “very uncomfortable” in Ukraine due to criminal prosecution for corruption crimes.

“We can even provide Vladimir Putin with a list of Ukrainian citizens who will soon become very uncomfortable in the country they cynically robbed by abusing high positions. Let Russia decide again where it most needs such “professionals” - in Rostov or Magadan,” he added.

Zelensky expressed confidence that Ukrainians are free people who value their homeland, and Ukrainian citizenship is “freedom, dignity, honor.”

He also recalled that, unlike in Ukraine, in Russia there is no turnover of power, dissidents are persecuted.

“We know very well what a Russian passport actually provides. It is the right to be arrested for peaceful protest. This is the right not to have free and competitive elections. This is the right to completely forget about the existence of natural human rights and freedoms. Therefore, you should not expect that many Ukrainians will want to become the “new oil” that the Russian authorities are trying to turn their own people into,” Zelensky emphasized.

The future president of Ukraine promised to grant Ukrainian citizenship to opponents of the Putin regime.

“Ukraine will not give up its mission to serve as an example of democracy for post-Soviet countries. And part of this mission will be providing protection, asylum and Ukrainian citizenship to everyone who is ready to fight for freedom. We will provide shelter and assistance to everyone - everyone who is ready to fight side by side with us for our and your freedom,” Zelensky assured.

Zelensky said that he is ready for negotiations with the Russian authorities and intends to discuss “new conditions for the existence of Ukraine and Russia.” At the same time, he noted that real normalization of bilateral relations is possible only after the “complete de-occupation” of Donbass and Crimea.

“Ukraine does not give up! In every sense of the word. But I hope that in Russia they are still more willing to talk than to shoot,” the statement says.

The politician stressed that Ukraine should not speak the language of threats, military and economic pressure.

“This is not the best path to a ceasefire and unblocking the Minsk process,” he noted.

Zelensky also proposed at the next meeting of the Normandy Four (Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany) to discuss the exchange of prisoners in the “all for all” format.

In conclusion, Zelensky responded to Putin’s words that he was not a god and was not elevated to the rank of saints.

“I really am not God to have my wishes come true. But I also remember that the time will come for all officials to give an honest answer for their actions before Him. No one will go to Heaven straight away. First there will be a trial,” the politician wrote.

On the eve of Putin, answering a journalist's question about what he would say to Zelensky when he appeared before him, he said:

“Vladimir Zelensky is not the Lord God and has not been elevated to the rank of saints, and it is unlikely that I should appear before him in any capacity.”

At the same time, the president of Russia did not rule out meeting with Zelensky.
