Zelensky is traveling to the USA: he will speak at the UN General Assembly, in Congress and meet with Biden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with US President Joe Biden and key members of Congress in Washington next week. This was reported by a Ukrainian official, writes Politico.

Zelensky's visit to Washington will follow his participation in the UN General Assembly in New York, where he hopes to drum up support.

According to the source, Zelensky will meet with Biden at the White House on September 21 and will also visit Capitol Hill.

Zelensky previously visited Washington in December 2022, his first foreign trip since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February this year. During this trip, which included a visit to the White House and testimony before Congress, the Ukrainian president pushed for further assistance to his country, arguing that continued military and humanitarian assistance was appropriate and necessary. It can be assumed that this time he will make similar arguments.

But Zelensky's upcoming visit coincides with a congressional impasse over federal spending, with the $21 billion in additional aid to Ukraine sought by Biden looking increasingly unlikely as Republican lawmakers push for sweeping cuts.
