You can request and receive documents from USCIS online

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the launch of Immigration Records SysTem (FIRST), which makes it possible to send and manage requests based on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and receive answers to them online.

Prior to this, USCIS accepted FOIA requests by mail, fax and e-mail, and responses were sent to applicants by mail in the form of documents and information on a CD-ROM, the press service of the department reports.

In order to make a request, you must create an account in myUSCIS and already there you can request the necessary documents and data.

In the account, requesters can track the status of their cases and requests for information, and they will receive an email notification after USCIS uploads the documents they need in response to the request.

The launch of the FIRST system will be gradual, now it is possible to get online the documents necessary for the immigration court, to those people whose dates have not yet been scheduled. Further types of documents and data will be expanded.

FIRST is part of the extensive USCIS program to transfer the country's immigration system from paper exchanges to digital transactions.

In December, USCIS expanded the list of documents available in Electronic reading room departments, among which there is external correspondence addressed to the leadership of the Service, as well as his answers.

The FOIA Freedom of Information Act gives members of the public the opportunity to request access to a variety of public information from federal agencies. Like all federal agencies, USCIS is required to disclose information provided in the request.
