Only geniuses can learn: what do Americans think about Russian
Americans will always feel much more different from us than we do from them. This is because we, at the very least, understand English, while for the inhabitants of the United States, Russian is something absolutely incredible.
Many Americans admit that they do not understand at all how we can speak such a complex language. For them, Russian is not even a language - it’s just a set of difficult to pronounce sounds, in which there is no logic. Therefore, the fact that we speak this most complex language fluently awakens real respect in many Americans. Some even consider it a sign of genius.

Everything is quite prosaic - Americans want to understand Russians during online games, because they constantly encounter people from the post-Soviet space there.
