Kianna Long said she was at the supermarket with her husband when she heard the shooting.

“People were panicking and running, screaming that there was a shooter,” Long told Reuters. “They ran, bent down to the floor, fell to the floor.”

Another witness, Glendon Oakley, told CNN that he was at a sporting goods store in a nearby mall when a child ran in and said Walmart was being shot.

Oakley said that the child’s words were not taken seriously, but after a few minutes he heard two shots.

“I was only thinking about saving the children,” he said.

US President Donald Trump called the attack "an act of cowardice."

“I join everyone in this country in condemning today’s act of hate. No reason can ever justify the killing of innocent people,” he tweeted.

The authorities have not yet made public the names of the victims of the attack. However, Mexican President Manuel Lopez Obrador said that among the dead were three Mexicans, reports Reuters.
