Hundreds of people in 37 states fell ill: onions infected with salmonella are recalled in the United States
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a warning after 650 people in 37 states fell ill from onions contaminated with Salmonella. Writes about it Delish.

An investigation by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found the outbreak to be related to red, white and yellow onions imported from Chihuahua, Mexico in the summer and distributed by Haley-based ProSource Produce ( Idaho). The last shipment was imported on August 27, according to ProSource, but it is possible that onions are still in some grocery stores and restaurants, as they can last for about three months.

The effects of salmonella poisoning can lead to unpleasant symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. They are rarely fatal, but 129 people have been hospitalized to date due to the outbreak.
As a result, both the CDC and the FDA have urged restaurants, shops and all people to check their bows to see if they have stickers or packaging that reference ProSource or Mexico and throw them away. For greater safety, it is best to get rid of all the red, white, and yellow onions you have until people stop getting sick.
In addition, the CDC strongly recommends washing any surfaces and containers that may have come into contact with this contaminated vegetable.
