Shooting in Baltimore (Maryland)

The first shooting occurred at about 02:30 on Saturday, January 11, three women participated in it. They were found in the north-eastern part of the city in a car and had obvious signs of a gunshot wound. One victim, a 28-year-old woman, died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

A few hours later, in southeast Baltimore, police found a 46-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. Then the second participant in the incident, a 40-year-old man, came to the hospital also with a gunshot wound in his leg.

Shortly after 14:30 p.m. on January 11, police found a mortally wounded man in southeast Baltimore. Less than half an hour after that, shooting occurred in the center of Baltimore, resulting in the wounding of a 37-year-old man.

Around 19:00 in the north-eastern part of the city, police discovered a 38-year-old man, also with a gunshot wound.

An hour later, shots rang out in the south-west of Baltimore, one person was injured and the other died. As a result of firing in the northeast of Baltimore, a 37-year-old man died.

A series of Saturday executions ended shortly before 23:00, when officers discovered a mortally wounded 24-year-old man in northwestern Baltimore.

For five consecutive years, more than 300 murders have taken place in the city. 2019 is the most violent year, with 348 murders recorded during this period.

City Council President Brandon Scott, a Democrat running for mayor, condemned the violence on January 12 in a statement.

“A day we had hoped to celebrate with pride was again filled with violence and loss,” Scott said. “This heartbreaking violence must stop.”

Shooting in Aurora (Colorado)

On January 11, five people were injured in a residential complex in Aurora (Colorado), the police are still looking for a shooter, writes USA Today.

A police statement said three of the five injured were minors over the age of 16, two girls and a boy. Both adults are men.

“All the injured were taken to hospital and are being treated,” the police said in a statement. “There are five victims in total, all in serious but stable condition.”

Interim police chief Vanessa Wilson said the officers answering the 911 call arrived within 90 seconds. She called the investigation “top priority” for her department.

“All our resources are working around the clock, we are now conducting interviews and collecting evidence,” she said.

Neighbors said they heard arguing, gunfire and screaming. Ashley Allen, 31, heard two gunshots and then a man screaming, “I shot in the arm.” Another man screamed, “I’m hurt,” she said.

The noise woke her one-year-old son.

“I’ve never heard the sound of a gunshot before,” she said. - It scares me. I didn't know if they were shooting in the air. We were very scared."

Wilson has promised to strengthen police patrols to ensure the safety of people. The police said that, apparently, the shooting occurred in a residential complex where the party was held. The motives for the attack are not clear.

The suspect is described as an African American of unknown age in a yellow sweatshirt with a hood.

Shooting in Dallas (Texas)

At least four shots were fired during the third quarter of the game between South Oak Cliff and Kimball High Schools. Spectators rushed to the exits, players and coaches were also forced to seek shelter.

An 18-year-old victim, allegedly a former schoolgirl in South Oak Cliff, was shot in the chest by a bullet and taken to hospital. The girl is in serious condition.

“A Dallas police spokeswoman was injured when she attempted to confront an armed individual,” Dallas Police Department spokeswoman Robin Harris said at a news conference.

“She put herself in danger to keep others safe,” Harris said of the officer, whose name has not been released.

“We really need the community's help to solve this problem. The senseless violence must stop,” Harris said.

The police published photos of three young people whom the authorities want to interrogate.

According to Harris, the shooting began a few hours after representatives of the South Oak Cliff High School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate a two-year repair worth $ 52 million. She said the basketball game was supposed to end the celebration.

"It's heartbreaking that it ended this way," Harris said.

2019 killings took place in Dallas in 210, and Rory Norman, a one-year-old child, was killed on January 5, 2020: a shooter crept up to the child’s bedroom window and opened fire from a rifle. The police consider this incident a deliberate murder. The killer has not yet been arrested.
