For non-payment of alimony Ukrainians will close the trip abroad

They will take away the rights and will not allow them to go abroad: the law on strengthening responsibility for non-payment of alimony has come into force.

According to UNIAN, in Ukraine today, February 6, the law on strengthening responsibility for non-payment of alimony came into force. The law provides for a temporary restriction on the right to leave the debtor outside Ukraine, who does not pay child support.

Also, the following measures may be applied to the debtor, who has arrears in the payment of alimony in an amount that cumulatively exceeds the amount of the corresponding payments for six months: temporarily restrict him with the right to drive a vehicle, use firearms, pneumatic and cooled weapons, domestic-made devices for shooting cartridges, equipped with rubber or similar in their properties throwing projectiles of non-lethal action, and also to limit the right of hunting.

It also proposes a new type of administrative penalty in the form of social works, which consist in the execution by the person who committed an administrative offense, in his free time from work or study, of paid socially useful works, the form of which will be determined by local governments.

Earlier, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko announced that 6 February will begin to fully operate the registry of non-payers of alimony, the arrears in the payment of alimony which is more than 6 months. The minister said that this register will include all without exception of persons who do not pay alimony, regardless of their status, position or state service.

7 December 2017, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law amending some legislative acts to strengthen the protection of the child’s right to proper maintenance by forcibly collecting arrears in the payment of alimony (№7277). 4 January President Petro Poroshenko signed a law to strengthen the responsibility for non-payment of alimony.
