One week before the elections in Ukraine, humorist Vladimir Zelensky turned out to be the leader of the presidential race

Less than a week is left before the presidential election in Ukraine, therefore ForumDaily presents the results of two studies of electoral sentiments of Ukrainians.

According to a survey conducted by the Sociological Group "Rating“at the beginning of March 2019, 69% of respondents believe that things in Ukraine are going in the wrong direction, 16% have the opposite opinion. Over the past month, the number of those who negatively assess the state of affairs in the state has increased slightly.

84% of respondents to one degree or another declare their readiness to take part in the March 31 presidential election in 2019. The highest level of unequivocal readiness to come to the polls is observed among residents of the West, the most senior voters of Petro Poroshenko, Ruslan Koshulinsky and Igor Smeshko.

Among the factors that may prevent one from voting at a polling station, the most significant for respondents are possible provocations, queues at polling stations and information about voter bribery - these factors received 2,1, 2,0 and 1,9 points (the assessment was on a 5-point scale , where 1 means it won’t hurt at all, and 5 means it will hurt a lot). Less significant are the factor of bad weather (1,7) and the presence of vacation plans (1,8).

The leader of the presidential rating as of the second half of March remains comedian Vladimir Zelensky, who is supported by 24,9% of those who have decided and intend to vote. The second position is occupied by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko (18,8%), the third is the current President Petro Poroshenko (17,4%). 10,2% are ready to vote for Yuriy Boyko, 9,4% for Anatoly Gritsenko, 5,8% for Oleg Lyashko, 3,5% for Alexander Vilkul, 3,1% for Igor Smeshko, 2,2% for Ruslan Koshulinsky %. Over the past week, the electoral positions of the leaders have remained virtually unchanged.

In addition, every sixth respondent did not decide on the choice of the candidate. It is important that most of these are among the poorest voters and villagers.

Vladimir Zelensky has strong electoral positions in the southeastern regions and in the center of the country. Yulia Tymoshenko and Petro Poroshenko - in the center and in the west. At the same time, Vladimir Zelensky is the leader of electoral sympathies in the cities, and Yulia Tymoshenko is the leader in the villages. Zelensky is also the leader of sympathy among young and middle-aged people, Tymoshenko among older voters. If Zelensky, Poroshenko and Gritsenko are relatively more supported by men, then Tymoshenko is supported by women.

The anti-rating of candidates is headed by Petro Poroshenko. Almost half of voters would not vote for him under any circumstances. About 30% would not vote for Yulia Tymoshenko, 19% for Yuriy Boyko, 17% for Oleg Lyashko, 13% for Vladimir Zelensky, 12% for Alexander Vilkul.

20,8% of respondents believe that Petro Poroshenko will be the next president. 19,5% believe in the victory of Vladimir Zelensky, 18,6% believe in Yulia Tymoshenko. Thus, according to this indicator, the race leaders have almost leveled off.

The simulation of the second round gave the following results: Yulia Tymoshenko holds the first place in a pair with Petro Poroshenko (28% against 19%). At the same time, Vladimir Zelensky wins together with Petro Poroshenko (39% against 19%), with Yulia Tymoshenko (35% against 22%) and with Anatoly Gritsenko (34% against 26%).

9 Ukrainian citizens aged 15 years and older took part in a formal interview (face-to-face) on March 2019-2500, 18. The error in the representativeness of the study is no more than 2%.

Another study assessed the online popularity of Ukrainian presidential candidates by gender, age, and family income.

According to this recent study, Vladimir Zelensky remains the undisputed leader of voter sympathy. He is followed by Yulia Tymoshenko, and in the third place was the current president, Petro Poroshenko.

According to the survey, they believe that Poroshenko is beneficial only for his wealthy friends, while Zelensky is considered the voice of the people. Despite the fact that the comedian does not have a platform, he and Yulia Tymoshenko have significantly become detached from the current president.

The support of Vladimir Zelensky shows the need for new political players in the Ukrainian government.

Petro Poroshenko is the most popular among women, and Yulia Tymoshenko is the least popular, which is strikingly different from the results of the previous study.

Zelensky has the greatest appeal among middle-income families, while Tymoshenko and Poroshenko appeal more to those with high incomes. In addition, Zelensky is the most popular candidate among low-income people.

Recall that Zelensky announced his participation in the election race on December 31 in a video styled as the president’s New Year’s address. Zelensky is known as the co-founder of the stand-up show "95 Quarter", the producer of the series "Matchmakers" and the hero of the comedies "Love in the City" and "8 first dates."
