A young resident of New York won the World Fencing Championship
Ethan Kousernik, 13-year-old boy from Brooklyn, New York, 26 August 2016 won the Pan-American Fencing Championship in Pose, Puerto Rico. Ethan is now ranked first in his US fencing age group.
When he was 10 years old, he first won the World Fencing Championship for boys under the age of 15. Earlier this year, Ethan won the North American Cup in Salt Lake City, Utah. Last year, Ethan received a title from the City Council of New York for his achievements in fencing.
Fencing at the Olympics is carried out on three types of weapons: sword, saber and rapier.
American fencing skiers this year did not qualify for the 2016 Olympiad in Rio. Ethan hopes that when he grows up, he will be able to represent the United States at the Olympics and win the Olympic gold for his country.
