Yandex will become the start page in Windows 10
The Russian search engine Yandex will become the start page and integrated search engine in the Edge and Internet Explorer browsers on devices with the Windows 10 operating system in Russia and several other countries.
According to the Microsoft press service, the company has agreed with Yandex on strategic cooperation. In addition to Russia, the search engine will be integrated into Microsoft browsers in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Turkey.
In these countries, Yandex will replace the Bing search engine, which is developed by Microsoft and is usually installed in its browsers by default.
In response, Yandex should create a special page on which it will offer users to install Windows-10. In addition, the company will develop special applications for the Microsoft operating system.
Earlier, Reuters reported that in 2015, Yandex’s share of the Russian Internet search engine market dropped to 57% (from 62% two years ago). Now the company is trying to regain lost ground.
In particular, Yandex filed a complaint with the Federal Antimonopoly Service against competitors from Google. As a result of its consideration, the FAS found Google guilty of illegally forcing smartphone manufacturers to place their services on the start screen.
