COVID-19 vaccine causes dangerous syndrome and genetic changes

Researchers at Yale University have found a link between the COVID-19 vaccine and a new syndrome that causes “distinct biological changes” in the body. The condition, called post-vaccination syndrome (PVS), is linked to mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, writes Daily Mail.

Symptoms of PVS include confusion, dizziness, tinnitus, and exercise intolerance. Some patients experience biological changes, such as changes in immune cells and the presence of coronavirus proteins in the blood years after vaccination.

In addition, PVS can activate the Epstein-Barr virus, which causes flu-like symptoms, as well as swollen lymph nodes and nervous system problems. The full results of the study have not yet been published. The Yale scientists noted that the findings are still in the developmental stage, but their research highlights the need for further study of post-vaccination syndrome.

The next phase of the study will focus on the prevalence of PVS and identifying groups at higher risk. Thousands of people have reported harm from vaccines since vaccinations began in 2021, but the U.S. health care system makes it difficult to detect rare side effects. Large studies have not been able to accurately distinguish between symptoms caused by vaccination and illnesses that may occur independently of the vaccine.

Study author Dr Akiko Iwasaki of Yale University said the work was still in its early stages, but it offered hope for future ways to diagnose and treat PVS. The mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer are credited with saving tens of millions of lives worldwide, including 3 million in the US.

In the new study, Iwasaki's team looked at blood samples from 42 people with PVS and 22 people without the syndrome between December 2022 and November 2023. The studies showed that people with PVS and long-Covid had reactivated the Epstein-Barr virus, which causes fatigue and inflammation. People with PVS also had elevated levels of coronavirus proteins that were not seen in patients with long-Covid, suggesting that these proteins may be linked to PVS symptoms.

(Long Covid, or post-Covid syndrome, refers to symptoms and illnesses that continue or appear weeks or months after a person has had acute COVID-19. These include symptoms such as fatigue, headache, breathing problems, memory loss, depression, insomnia, and other problems that do not go away over time and significantly affect a person’s quality of life. – Note.)

Dr. Iwasaki noted that the presence of the spike protein of the coronavirus in the blood after a long time was unexpected. However, not all patients with PVS had this protein, which may indicate different mechanisms underlying the syndrome. The main limitation of the study is the small sample size, but the researchers consider the findings interesting and require further analysis.

Dr. Gregory Poland stressed that larger studies, including genetic analysis of participants, are needed to draw more definitive conclusions. Yale researchers like Dr. Harlan Krumholz say it’s important to listen to patients who experience problems after vaccination and carefully study the causes of those problems.

Vaccine expert Dr John Wherry urged caution in interpreting the data and noted that excess spike protein could be linked to undetected cases of COVID-19. However, safety data for the vaccines supports their effectiveness when the number of people vaccinated and the results of large studies are taken into account.

According to the U.S. COVID-19 Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, by December 2024, there have been 14 claims for injury or death allegedly caused by the vaccine, out of 000 million Americans who have received at least one dose.

Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine expert at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, said the data confirms the shots are safe.

“Billions of people have already received vaccines, and large placebo-controlled studies have not found such effects,” he concluded.
