A lone hacker claimed responsibility for hacking a Democrats server
A lone hacker hiding under the nickname Guccifer 2.0, took responsibility for hacking the computer network of the National Committee of the US Democratic Party.
As Reuters reports, as proof that it was he who hacked the network, the hacker posted copies of documents stolen from the committee’s website on his WordPress blog. Among them was a file entitled “Report on Donald Trump.”
The agency’s statement says that it hasn’t yet been possible to confirm the authenticity of the stolen documents.
At the same time, the portal Gawker claims that he managed to get copies of documents from the hacker and authenticate some of them. The Trump report, according to the portal, is based on open source information.
The National Committee of the Democratic Party has not yet commented on the recognition of the hacker. In turn, the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike continues to insist that two groups of Russian hackers broke into the server.
Previously, and the committee, and CrowdStrike accused in the implementation of cyber attacks and data theft from the server of hackers from the FSB and the GRU, acting, in their opinion, independently of each other. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was not involved in the hacking.
