A woman was bitten by an alligator while swimming in a river in Florida.
The incident occurred on August 8, reports ABC NewsA woman was swimming in the Silver River in Marion County, south of Gainesville, when an alligator bit her on the arm, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported.
Bystanders came to the victim's aid, pulling her out of the water and handing her over to paramedics, who took her to the hospital. However, there are no details about the patient's condition.
Wildlife trappers arrived at the scene. They later located and captured a three-meter-long alligator, the department said.
Recreation and swimming are now permitted again on the Silver River after the incident, county officials said.
