WikiLeaks: Bin Laden's son asked the United States to issue a document on the death of his father
The son of “number one terrorist” Osama bin Laden, Abdullah, has asked US authorities to issue a death certificate for his father, according to a document published by WikiLeaks on Tuesday.
The Wikilealks portal published in public access more than 70 thousands of documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, including classified ones; This part of the documents is the first batch of about half a million documents received by the portal. Among the documents is the secret correspondence of the country's foreign ministry with embassies of the kingdom around the world. Also, the archive contains reports of various state institutions of Saudi Arabia, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the intelligence services. Among the documents published by the Wikilealks, a letter was discovered that the Consul General of the US Embassy in Riyadh Glen Kaiser sent to bin Laden’s son. The letter is dated 9 September 2011.
“I have received your request for the death certificate of your father, Osama bin Laden. I have been informed by the Office of the Legal Counsel of the US State Department that no death certificate has been issued regarding the death of Osama bin Laden. This is in line with normal practice for private citizens killed during military operations,” the document says.
The text also states that the US federal court, due to the death of “terrorist number one”, terminated the proceedings on the indictment, which was initiated at the request of the US Department of Justice.
According to official information, al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed on the night of May 2, 2011 by American special forces in a fortified house near the city of Abbottabad in northern Pakistan. American commandos arrived in Pakistan in several helicopters, one of which was lost during the liquidation of the terrorist. Islamabad was not warned about the impending operation. The body of the murdered bin Laden was buried in the Arabian Sea.
Wikileaks timed the publication on the 3 anniversary since Assange took shelter at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. Then he appealed to the Ecuadorian authorities for political asylum because of fear of his extradition to the United States by the Swedish authorities.
