WikiLeaks began publishing secret CIA documents on total surveillance via smartphones

The exposing project WikiLeaks began publishing a large array of classified documents from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), codenamed Vault7.

The leak is announced in the project account on Twitter as the largest in the history of American intelligence.

The first part of the publication is called Year Zero and includes the 8761 document and file from the isolated internal network of the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Published documents should demonstrate the scale of secret CIA hacking programs aimed at hacking various devices and software products of a number of companies, including Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung. Allegedly, with the help of viruses, the CIA turned smartphones and other gadgets into listening devices.

Also, the CIA-developed programs allowed people to be monitored using smartphones, in particular, iPhones and iPads. Infected gadgets sent their location data to Langley, allowed to listen to conversations and record text correspondence. In addition, smartphones could be used remotely as microphones and surveillance cameras.

Available CIA technology allows you to receive audio traffic and text messages, in particular, from the popular messengers WhatsApp and Telegram. Information is allegedly stolen from mobile applications before regular data encryption begins.

It follows from the documents that the American embassy in Frankfurt am Main serves as a CIA “hacker” center. Hackers sent there receive diplomatic passports and cover from the State Department.

One of the divisions of the Central Intelligence Agency, called UMBRAGE, collects a “library” of hacking technologies, including those developed in other countries and subsequently stolen. In particular, the CIA has malicious software created by Russian hackers, confidential documents say.
