If you've been keeping an eye on the cute newly hatched eagles in Los Angeles and want more adorable moments, be sure to check out this webcam, where two chicks are about to hatch just 75 miles from Washington, D.C.
The National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) first installed a camera to watch these majestic birds in 2005 after a pair of American bald eagles nested there in 2003. They had chicks a year later. Now, every nesting season, birders and eagle enthusiasts can watch all the action live.

The 2025-hour camera is a joint project between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Outdoor Channel, and the Friends of the National Conservation Training Center. It is currently tracking the XNUMX nesting season.
In February, the family laid three eggs, and by March 20, 2025, the hatching process had begun. Observers noticed the first “peep” — a tiny hole in the shell that the chick makes with a special “egg tooth” on its beak. This marks the beginning of the hatching process. Over the next 12 hours, the chicks continue to make the hole larger until they are completely out of the shell.
The first chick can now be seen on the webcam, and the next two are expected to appear in the coming days.
After hatching in mid-March, there are 12 exciting weeks ahead during which the chicks will grow rapidly. By mid-June, they will have reached adult size and will begin to leave the nest.

Fortunately, bald eagles were removed from the endangered species list in 2007. They remain a national symbol of North America.
