Walmart now delivers purchases in half an hour: they will be sent to your home by drone

Walmart has announced a change in shipping policy that will benefit millions of customers, but at a cost of $3,99. The edition told in more detail The Sun.

Walmart is expanding its drone delivery service to several more stores in four new cities.

In Florida, amenities are now available to customers in Tampa and Orlando. Drone delivery service introduced in Dallas, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona.

For $3,99, Walmart said that anyone who lives within one mile (1,6 km) of a participating store can receive their purchases in as little as 30 minutes.

Customers can check if they are eligible to participate on the website DroneUp, a Virginia company that Walmart partnered with to create the service.

Delivery by drones is carried out from 08:00 to 20:00. There are no order restrictions, but the weight of the package cannot exceed 10 pounds (4,5 kg).

Store employees pack goods and attach them to a drone.

The devices are operated by a team of DroneUp flight engineers who make sure the devices fly in accordance with FAA standards.

As soon as the drone arrives at the client's home, the cable system will gently lower the package into the yard.

Walmart first used the service in 2020 to deliver COVID-19 testing kits to people's homes.

Last year, the company introduced it to retail for the first time for a store in Farmington, Arkansas.

Walmart now plans to offer the service to select retailers in Virginia and Utah by the end of the year.

In total, the program will cover 34 stores in 23 cities.
