Walmart will hire 150 thousand new employees due to coronavirus

Walmart, the world's largest retailer, is having difficulty delivering goods to customers due to coronavirus crisis 2019-nCoV. The network has decided to increase the number of its employees, reports USA Today.

The retail giant said it would hire 150 new employees by the end of May to work in stores, warehouses, and distribution and distribution centers. According to the press release, these jobs will be temporary, but in the future many will still be hired on an ongoing basis.

“We know that the millions of Americans who usually work at this time are currently temporarily unemployed. And at the same time, we are now seeing high demand in our stores, ”said Dag Macmillon, President and CEO of Walmart.

Walmart also plans to reward hourly workers with more than $ 365 million in cash bonuses “for their hard work and dedication” during the national health crisis.

The announcement came the day after Walmart announced for the second time in a week that it was cutting store hours due to the spread of COVID-19.

Walmart says they have turned to industry unions representing restaurants and the hospitality industry to help hire temporary workers and provide them with various kinds of support.

Walmart Hourly Bonuses
