Causes Acute Hepatitis: FDA Recalls Popular US Drinking Water

Frank Yiannas, the FDA's Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response, released a statement saying Americans should avoid drinking Real Water bottled water.
“We advise consumers, restaurants and retailers not to consume, prepare, sell or serve Real Water alkaline water until more information is available about the cause of the illnesses,” he said.

Products in question include: 5 gallon containers (sold through home delivery and subscription services), bottles (sold online and in stores), and Real Water Concentrate (sold online).

Real Water's 5-gallon containers have been shipped to homes in Hawaii, California, Utah and Arizona, as well as Nevada, where the outbreak occurred, according to the FDA.

The FDA recommends that anyone who encounters this at any time should contact their doctor immediately.
The Las Vegas family, including the toddler and his parents, suffered from health complications that they claim stemmed from drinking Real Water. Emily and Christopher Brian Wren and their two-year-old son Christopher Noah Wren got sick, and their daughter did not drink water or get sick.
The baby and his father were hospitalized, and Emily experienced severe nausea and weakness. They are now suing Affinitylifestyles.com Inc., which produces Real Water, stating in court filings, "The defendants' bottled water was defective and unnecessarily dangerous because the defendants had failed to warn of the increased levels of toxins in their products."

After the FDA report and lawsuit were filed on March 16, Real Water posted the following statement on its website:
“We are saddened to learn of a potential health issue associated with a product from our Real Water delivery service in Las Vegas. We take the safety of our products and the health of our customers seriously. Real Water makes every effort to ensure that our product is safe for consumption. Our goal is to work diligently with the FDA to quickly resolve the issue.”
Although they point out that the potential problem arose in Las Vegas, the company stopped selling and distributing Real Water throughout the US "until the problem is resolved."
Real Water asks retailers to "immediately remove the product from the shelf and keep it in back rooms or return it to distributors." As for customers, everyone who bought this water is recommended to return it to the point of sale.
