'You are destroying lives': hackers threaten Elon Musk over his business and tweets

Decentralized hacker group Anonymous posted a message to Elon Musk in a video in which members of the group called Tesla CEO "nothing more than another narcissistic rich guy desperate for attention," writes Bitcoin.com.

Anonymous, a decentralized international movement of activists and hacktivists, posted a video on June 4 addressed to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. It is unknown if the people behind this video are members of the real-life hacktivist group Anonymous, known for cyberattacks against multiple governments since 2003.

The video begins with the message: “Greetings, citizens of the world. This is a message from Anonymous for Elon Musk. "

“Elon Musk is a rich narcissist who needs attention.”

“Over the past few years, you have enjoyed one of the most favorable reputations among the billionaire class because you have realized the desire of many of us to live in a world of electric vehicles and space exploration,” the group said. “But your carefully crafted public image is revealed, and people begin to see you as nothing more than another narcissistic rich guy desperate for attention.”

“Your desire to save the world seems to have more to do with a superiority complex and salvation than with any real concern for humanity,” they said.

“Staff, children and the local environment are suffering.”

Anonymous then stressed that Elon Musk's lack of concern for humanity "was evident for a long time to his employees, who for years faced unbearable conditions under his command."

The group referred to an Observer article entitled "Elon Musk, Tesla is pushing factory workers to the brink of rising profits." The article explains that "Tesla workers and workers' advocates say the company is risking the health and safety of its employees by relentlessly pursuing these impressive numbers."

Additionally, Anonymous linked to another article in The Times entitled "'Blood Batteries' Are Fueling Elon Musk's Fortune," stating:

“It's also obvious to the young children working in your overseas lithium mines, destroying the local environment. You have openly declared your readiness to stage coups in order to establish dictators in the places where your toxic products are mined. "

"You have even prematurely crowned yourself 'Emperor of Mars,' a place where you will send people to die," the group continued, pointing to an article titled "Elon Musk Proclaims Himself Emperor of Mars."

“Fans are oblivious to these issues because they are focused on the potential good your projects can bring to the world,” Anonymous suggested. - But you are not the only alternative, and the competition is becoming more intense every day. There are many other companies involved in space exploration and electric vehicles. You are simply the only CEO who has achieved a cult following by posting and trolling the world on social media.”

"Tesla's main income is not cars"

Anonymous then talked about how Tesla makes money.

“Many people are now learning that the vast majority of Tesla's revenue doesn't actually come from selling cars. This comes through government subsidies, selling carbon tax credits for your clean energy innovations,” the group explained. — Technically, this is not your innovation, because you are not actually the founder of Tesla. You just bought a company from two people much smarter than you."

Anonymous mentioned Martin Eberhard and Mark Tarpenning. In an interview with CNBC, Tarpenning said Musk was an investor in the company.

“He was always supportive from the beginning, but he wasn’t the founder. We started it,” he confirmed.

“He actually did some amazing things... I'm not sure why he said he was the founder when he wasn't. I don’t understand it,” Eberhard added.

Referring to an article titled “Tesla: Bitcoin Sales and Green Credits Boost Profits,” Anonymous suspected that “Tesla also made more money from storing bitcoins in two months than it did in years of selling cars. It is also more than likely that this bitcoin was bought with the money of these government subsidies. The video then talks about Elon Musk's attempt to centralize and control Bitcoin mining. On May 24, the Tesla CEO announced on Twitter that he had met with leading North American bitcoin miners. During a closed meeting hosted by Microstrategy CEO Michael Sailor, he said that the miners agreed to form a Bitcoin Mining Council.

"Elon is ruining lives"

Anonymous also accuses Elon Musk of destroying the lives of cryptocurrency holders with their memes and tweets, stating in the video:

“Reading the comments on your Twitter posts, it seems like the games you played with the cryptocurrency markets have ruined lives. Millions of retail investors have really relied on cryptocurrencies to improve their lives. "
