In 2018, American journalist and author Emily Chang published Brotopia: Breaking Up the Boys' Club of Silicon Valley. It focuses on sexism and gender inequality in the tech industry in Silicon Valley.

Chang has interviewed more than 200 people at leading companies. One of the parts of the book is devoted to the "dark side" of Silicon Valley: dozens of clerks, personally present at secret parties of the tech elite, told the writer how technocrats of the XNUMXst century actually have a rest.

As a rule, these parties are organized by men. It is possible to attend such an event only upon the individual invitation of the organizer. Meetings begin late at night, but guests arrive at the appointed place before noon. At the entrance, arrivals are checked by a private guard, who immediately chases those who showed up without an invitation.

Chang mentioned that sometimes a servant is hired for an event, since you need to cook food and keep order, but it also happens that guests make their own preparations, avoiding prying eyes in the house. Most often, at such parties, food intake is accompanied by alcohol, and after dessert, guests switch to "heavy artillery" and take drugs.

Then the guests of the party, among whom there are usually about three times more women than men, have sex. It is known that many men take their wives to such events and change them during mass orgies. Chang described the event like this: "Eat, consume, have sex, repeat." She explained that this process can continue for several days in a row.

According to eyewitnesses, the most popular drug at these parties is MDMA (also known as ecstasy). One of the young entrepreneurs under the pseudonym Jane Doe, who attended such a sex party, told Emily Chang about her experience. The girl received an individual invitation to a reception at the home of a wealthy venture capitalist.

“At one point I found myself on the floor with four people, two of whom were the owner of the house and his wife. They all hugged and caressed each other, and then the capitalist offered me some powder in a plastic bag. It was MDMA. The girl consumed a certain amount of the substance, after which the man asked if he could kiss her. “It was very strange. He knew that I had never taken drugs and drugged me on purpose. I became very scared, I got into the car and drove away. I realized that such events are dominated by money and power. This is a big problem because all these people abuse this power too much,” she shared.

Entrepreneur Esther Crawford, in a conversation with the writer, said that such events are used among Silicon Valley specialists as a tool for establishing business ties. One day, Crawford went to one of the parties and saw her boss taking part in a BDSM orgy with colleagues at work. According to her, they met eyes and since then have never discussed what happened.

A few months later, at a Google road trip, another coworker approached the woman and began hinting at sex.

"I know who you are. The other guys told me that you like it, ”he said. After this incident, Esther quit her job at Google.

Earlier, in personal conversations with friends, Crawford mentioned that she prefers to be in a polygamous relationship and date several men at the same time. Another entrepreneur confirmed the words of an anonymous investor and explained that the current situation is like a vicious circle of injustice: “Women are selling themselves to move forward. Elisabeth Sheff, a writer and professor from the American city of Chattanooga, who has researched open relationships for 20 years, expressed a sharply negative attitude towards Silicon Valley sex parties.

“This is the exploitation of women. This is old school, corrupt male arrogance and prostitution!
