The US Air Force mistakenly attacked the Afghan military checkpoint.

At least eight Afghan soldiers were killed after "friendly fire" was opened by mistake by US-led NATO forces at an Afghan base. This information was confirmed by Afghan authorities and US representatives, Reuters reports.

In particular, the US military in Kabul confirmed the air strike and added that the international coalition would investigate the case.

The incident occurred in Logar province, south of Kabul, where Taliban militants often carry out terrorist attacks against Afghan security forces. Logar is predominantly under Taliban control. One Afghan general said the airstrike was likely a "mistake."

Before that, the US Air Force helicopters were attacked. Attacks and hostilities in Afghanistan became more frequent after the withdrawal of a large part of the foreign military contingent from Afghanistan at the end of 2014.
