Listeria outbreak in US: 2 people have already died due to contaminated lettuce
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating a Listeria outbreak caused by packaged Dole salads. Two people have already died. Writes about it CNN.
Another 17 people in 13 states have become infected, 13 of them are hospitalized.
The lettuce recall began at the end of December and is for products with expiration dates between November 30, 2021 and January 9, 2022.
The CDC notes that these products have codes in the upper right corner of the packaging that begin with the letters B, N, W, or Y.

Although all recalled products are manufactured by Dole, they are sold under different brands:
- hold;
- Dole;
- HEB;
- Kroger;
- Lidl;
- Little Salad Bar;
- marketside;
- Naturally Better;
- Nature's Promise;
- President's Choice;
- simply nature.
The agency advises consumers to discard or return these products, and to thoroughly clean refrigerators and other surfaces they come into contact with.

"Listeria can survive in the refrigerator and spread easily to other foods as well as surfaces," the CDC says.
CDC experts, among other things, continue to investigate a separate listeria outbreak associated with Fresh Express salads.
