Just two days after the opening of Yellowstone Park, a bison attacked a visitor
A woman was injured in a bison attack. This happened just two days after the opening of Yellowstone National Park, which was closed to visitors during the period of quarantine restrictions, writes CNN.
Two days after Yellowstone National Park was partially opened, one of the visitors was wounded by a bison that attacked it.
According to a spokeswoman for the park, Linda Veres, the victim followed the wild animal too closely on Wednesday, May 20.
Representatives of the park did not disclose the name of the victim.
They said that the woman was knocked down by a bison, she was injured. The victim was assisted by the medical staff of the park, but she refused hospitalization.
According to Veres, the guest did not comply with the requirements of the park - to observe a distance of at least 25 yards (about 23 meters) in relation to all large animals.
On May 12, while the park was still closed, another visitor illegally entered the park and fell into the “thermal feature” (as authorities called the site) of the famous Yellowstone Geyser. This visitor was transported by ambulance to the burn center.

Like many other national parks and recreation areas in the United States, Yellowstone has closed its doors to visitors since late March due to a coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release published earlier in early May, representatives of the park said they had developed a plan for its phased opening from May 18.
“Wyoming lifted restrictions on trips outside the state and demanded that the entrances to the park from the state should be open on May 18,” the statement said. "The states of Montana and Idaho continue to have restrictions, and the park works closely with these states and counties to open the remaining entrances as soon as possible."
