Doctors mistakenly amputate 82-year-old man's left leg instead of right

In Austria, doctors amputated the wrong leg of an 82-year-old man; an investigation has already begun in the hospital.

According to the doctors, the left leg had to be amputated, but the mark was placed on the right.

“We are deeply shocked that, despite quality standards, an 82-year-old man had the wrong leg amputated,” the medical institution noted.

The patient was asked to confirm that the mark was on the correct leg, but the man's articulation was reported to be limited due to the disease.

The management of the medical institution, after a public apology, filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office.

The patient has already been informed about the error, he is waiting for a new operation. The medic who had amputated his leg was suspended from work.
