The doctor took for three times allergy symptoms of cancer in a resident of Las Vegas

An 27-year-old woman, whose constant cough the doctor called allergy three times, found out for the fourth time that she had cancer, and cough was his symptom.

Now she urges people to be very attentive to their health, writes Fox News.

“I went to urgent care three times. The first time they told me I had a cold, but it wouldn't go away, the second time they told me it was a severe allergy, and the third time they told me my bronchitis had come back,” said Meagan Bechtold of Las Vegas. Vegas (Nevada).

Bechtold, who was eventually diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma 2B, said that she visited the same doctor every time, and that he told her that if the antibiotics prescribed for suspected bronchitis did not help, then he would send her to x-ray

Bechtold admitted that she was worried and tried using Google to find out what other diseases her symptoms might be related to. But since she could not clearly articulate all her symptoms, she eventually concluded that the doctor was probably right. An X-ray taken later showed a 13-centimeter tumor in the diaphragm of the woman, as well as the presence of fluid in the lungs. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, and she immediately began chemotherapy.

According to the American Cancer Society, the most common symptom of Hodgkin's lymphoma is a tumor located on the neck, under the arm or in the groin area. Abundant night sweats, high fever and weight loss. Bechtold faced the last two symptoms shortly after diagnosis. Patients may also have a cough or shortness of breath.

According to the American Cancer Society, patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma are classified by stages, and the letters A or B. 2B in Bechtold's diagnosis means that cancer was detected in two or more areas of the lymph nodes on one side of the diaphragm. Classification B means that the patient has experienced one or more of the main symptoms, including night sweats, fever, or 10 loss of body mass percent within six months.

Bechtold said that initially she was hospitalized for 11 days and underwent the first course of chemotherapy, which led to her losing 10 pounds (4,5 kg) of weight, she developed mouth ulcers and persistent nausea. She said she started losing hair during the second round of treatment.

“Losing my hair was the most traumatic part of my entire experience,” she said, adding that she asked her husband to help her shave her head.

“My hair was a huge part of my personality. I was blessed with long, thick hair, and after losing it I felt like I had completely lost myself,” the woman said.

Hair loss is the worst effect of treatment, she says, "because it's the first time you really look and feel like you have cancer."

Behtold said that seeing how other people who survived cancer publish inspirational photos of the end of treatment, she remains optimistic, in addition, she also started her own blog in Instagramthat made her feel more confident after losing her hair.
