WHO: coronavirus will return in small flashes until a vaccine appears

“We are not sure whether the coronavirus will come back in waves, like the flu. But we think that this virus will haunt humanity for a long time until everyone has a vaccine that will protect us. In our opinion, there will still be small outbreaks in different regions that will overcome our defense system,” Nabarro said.

He added that a key element in the fight against coronavirus is the presence in each community of a so-called “protective shield” - a mechanism that will allow them to immediately respond to new cases: isolate the sick and stop the further spread of the disease.

“It is necessary for every country to have such capacity. We call on countries to develop such a protective mechanism now, which will allow the strict lockdown regime to be lifted and prevent further mass outbreaks,” Nabarro said. He called on world leaders to strengthen cooperation in the fight against coronavirus.

“I would like everyone to come together and show the world that they believe that this global threat can be overcome with the united efforts of all countries and people,” said the WHO special envoy.
