Trump praised Putin's intelligence and questioned Biden's sanity
US President Donald Trump has said that Joe Biden must pass the same cognitive test that Trump himself recently took. At the same time, he noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has a "sharp mind." Writes about it Fox News.
“In a way, he has to,” Trump said of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, noting that the presidency requires “stamina” and good “mental health.”
Trump emphasized that after reports questioning his cognitive abilities, he passed a test to prove to the media that he is fit for the presidency. Trump used the argument that Biden (77 years old, three years older than Trump) is too old to run for president.
The argument is the cornerstone of Trump's re-election strategy.
“I can say that Chinese President Xi Jinping has a sharp mind, Russian President Vladimir Putin has a sharp mind, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a sharp mind. The President only deals with sharp-minded people,” Trump explained.
He also discussed the COVID-19 pandemic, calling the virus a "plague" and pointing out that, he said, death rates in the United States were falling.
“You see that mortality rates are really falling,” the president stated.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) disagrees that death rates are improving; instead, they warned that as the incidence rate continues to rise, an increase in mortality can be expected in the US.

“Deaths associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have decreased since last week, but they are now above epidemic thresholds and are likely to increase,” the CDC said.
Trump said he has lost five, possibly six, people close to him to the coronavirus, including real estate tycoon Stanley Chera, who died on April 11 at the age of 77 due to complications from the virus.
The president backtracked on previous remarks he made when comparing coronavirus to influenza. However, he stated that he never knew someone who would have died of the flu.
“When people like to compare it to the flu, it's interesting because I see the flu numbers and they're really bad. But when I look at the flu numbers and the mortality rate due to the coronavirus, I’ll say this: I’ve never lost anyone to the flu,” Trump concluded.
The United States has ordered 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, worth about $ 2 billion, from pharmaceutical company Pfizer and biotech company BioNTech.
Trump emphasized that if he had a choice, he would rather invest in therapeutic agents than in vaccines.
“I would like to go to the hospital and give everyone something so that they get better in two days. That's what I would like," Trump said.
He is confident that the United States will defeat the coronavirus, and ultimately the disease will "disappear."
“In my opinion, he will disappear. But I hope we can defeat him before he disappears. That’s what I want,” Trump concluded.
