'Contrary to all orders': in Brazil they found a message in a bottle from conscientious sailors

At the end of September in Brazil, a group of friends relaxing on the beach found a bottle with a message. As it turned out, this was a letter written by Soviet sailors. Writes about it Meduza.

22-year-old pharmacist student Paula Souza saw her younger brother Vitor playing with a bottle with something inside. Paula and her friends retrieved the message - for this they had to break a neck - but they found obscure symbols and were upset. They decided to publish a photo of the mysterious letter in the student group of the Federal University of Pelotas, where Paula is studying.

“In a few minutes we received more than two thousand reviews. One of the girls sent a photo to a group where a student from Russia studied in exchange - she was able to translate the first words, ”says Paula. But to analyze the rest of the contents of the letter was possible only with the help of specialists, so he was sent to the laboratory at the university.

The conclusions of the experts turned out to be discouraging: the letter does not represent historical or cultural value (and does not contain a treasure map or a declaration of love that the students hoped to find). Scientists are much more interested in the safety of paper.

“Addressed to those who are not too lazy to catch this bottle. She was crucified contrary to all orders and regulations of the MRH and the government hereby,” the letter says. Presumably the MRKh is the USSR Ministry of Fisheries.

Preliminary findings by scientists at the University of Pelotas indicate that the bottle with the letter could have been dropped from the vessel off the coast of Greenland. The message dates back approximately to the end of the 1980-1990 years when the "anti-alcohol campaign" was going on in Russia.
