This refugee assistance program is carried out in cooperation with the local Jewish organization Comunidad Judia Bet Shalom, as well as the organization Asociación de Ayuda a los Judíos de la Crisis de Ucrania
More than 250 refugees have already benefited from this project in Barcelona, and another 250 are receiving support in other Jewish communities in Spain.
Any refugee can apply to the community for help, but the majority of those who are already actively participating in regular programs or receiving regular assistance identify themselves as Jews or have “Jewish roots”.
Within the framework of this project, in particular, Spanish lessons are held for refugees, legal assistance and psychological support are provided, a women's club is held, and programs for young children and adolescents are organized. Many refugees also attend programs to study Jewish tradition and celebrate Shabbat.
