In Florida, a policeman, saving others, deliberately crashed into the car of a drunken intruder

In Tampa, Florida, 45-year-old police officer Jesse Madsen drove out to meet another car with a drunk driver to prevent him from crashing into others. Writes about it People.

The disaster took place on Tuesday, March 9th. Police "began receiving calls about a white vehicle heading south along the northern lanes of I-275 at high speed and zigzagging in the lanes." According to police, the offender was driving in the oncoming lane at a speed of about 100 miles per hour (160 km per hour).

A minute after the call, the sedan driver, who was identified as a resident of Colorado, 25-year-old Joshua Daniel Montague, crashed into Madsen's police car.

Both Madsen and Montague were killed in the impact. Because of the accident, lanes in both directions were closed for several hours.

Police said Madsen, who fathered two sons, 12 and 16, and a 10-year-old daughter, is remembered as the "guardian" of the city. The wife of the deceased is now a widow.

Madsen was a veteran combatant in the United States Marine Corps and served with the Tampa Police Department for over 16 years.

“He will never be forgotten,” police said in a statement. The department goes into a week of mourning.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
