Florida authorities found a newborn girl on a hill near a trailer park early on January 28. She was wrapped in a blanket and with the placenta still attached, reports AL.

Polk County authorities have responded to reports of a crying baby near Mulberry, east of Tampa. They found the girl about an hour after she was born, the sheriff's office said in a statement. The temperature was about 11 degrees Celsius.

According to the sheriff's office, Polk County medical officials took the child to the hospital, where they stated that the child was healthy and stable.
“By the grace of God, we found the abandoned girl before the cold or any animals did her any harm. She was left in a very vulnerable state, but she is a strong little girl and seems to be doing well," Sheriff Grady Judd said.

The officers used a K-9, a drone, and a bloodhound to try and find the mother, but were unsuccessful.
Florida has a safe haven law that allows parents to leave newborns at the fire station or at a medical facility for up to a week after birth.
