In Florida, a mother dumped two children in a store, fleeing police after stealing
39-year-old Mahassen Elhadari from Florida used one of her children to steal goods in a department store, and then abandoned her two sons (14 and 2 years) in a store, running away from security.
Woman came to Clearwater's Westfield Countryside Mall with his three children, including a baby in a pram, writes New York Daily News.
Elhadari, using scissors, removed the safety stickers from the goods and then put them in a bag. She was assisted by her 14-year-old son, who took the goods for theft from the shelves. Family tandem stole clothes and shoes worth 527 dollars.
Before leaving the store, the store’s security personnel headed toward the woman. She quickly grabbed the baby from the stroller and ran away, leaving her 14-year-old and 2-year-old son in the store. Leaving the crime scene, the woman shouted at them to run after her.
The children were detained by the store’s security staff; they were handed over to their father, who at the time of the theft was in another store of the mall.
The police attempted to contact Elhadari by telephone to force her to return to the store, but the woman hung up.
She was arrested the next day on charges of theft and of having abandoned children unattended.
