US authorities have fined Facebook $ 5 billion due to interference in the election of 2016 of the year

The US Federal Trade Commission estimated that Cambridge Analytica, a British consulting company, violated the rules and received data on 87 million social network users.

Facebook and the Federal Trade Commission reported that they have no comments on this issue.

This week, the agreement was approved by three out of five members of the commission. The US Department of Justice must make a final decision. How long this will take is not yet clear.

The Federal Trade Commission launched an investigation into Facebook last March. She had to find out if the company had violated obligations to protect and store personal data after Cambridge Analytica had access to data from tens of millions of social network users.
