The Department of Homeland Security began to check the social networks of all immigrants, including those who have a residence permit, and naturalized citizens.

According to the new norm опубликованной in the Federal Register, includes "names in social networks, nicknames, associated identity data, and search results" in files on immigrant affairs.

The new order came into force on October 18 after public hearings. The publication notes that the new rules also affect US citizens who communicate with immigrants on social networks, thus personal correspondence will be under state supervision.

We note that in May, the Trump administration approved a new application form for visa applicants. In particular, the procedure for obtaining a visa will provide for the possibility of checking data from the social networks of the candidate over the past five years. Candidates will also be required to provide e-mail address and biography for 15 years.

Nevertheless, the new rule affects not only potential candidates for visas in the United States, but also those who have already received a green card or have undergone a process of naturalization.
