Putin abolished the Crimean Federal District, sending the governor of Sevastopol to Siberia

Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to abolish the Crimean Federal District, created after annexation of the Crimea from Ukraine. Now the Crimean territorial units have actually become part of the Southern Federal District of Russia.
The Kremlin explained this by “increasing the efficiency of the activities of federal government bodies.” In connection with this, various personnel changes were made.
Among other things, Putin appointed the incumbent governor of Sevastopol Sergey Menyaylo as his plenipotentiary representative in the Siberian Federal District.
The new governor of Sevastopol, in turn, will be Dmitry Ovsyannikov, who was previously the deputy minister of industry and trade of Russia.
The Crimean Federal District was headed by Oleg Belaventsev, who now, after the abolition of his position, will become the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the North Caucasus Federal District.
In addition, Vladimir Putin dismissed without giving him a new place of work, Russia's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Ukraine, Mikhail Zurabov. The Kremlin has not yet named the name of the new ambassador.
