San Francisco office building owners hired robots to fight the homeless
Owners of office buildings in San Francisco began using K9 robotic security guards companies Knightscope to fight the homeless. He writes about it TechCrunch.
The K9 robot patrols the territory allocated to it and, when detected by outsiders, sends a signal to the guard or the police. The publication notes that the work of the robot is much less than the work of a living person. The robots are equipped with four cameras that are capable of counting more than 300 license plates per minute. They can immediately send everything they see to the cloud. In addition to tracking homeless people, robots could perform more security functions.
In San Francisco, for every 100 thousand people, there are about 511 homeless people. This is the highest rate in the United States. At night, homeless people climb into empty buildings or pitch tents on campuses of technology companies.
City authorities asked organizations mentioned in material Techcrunch, refuse car services. Thus, the authorities threatened SF SPCA with a fine of $ 1000 if they did not refuse the services of robots.
